BIOGRAPHY

Considered by specialized critic as one of the 2000 and 2001 spotlights due to their quality and professionalism, "David Alvarez y Juego de Manos" has been, since it was founded in 1994, the aesthetic and artistic outcome of a group having talented musicians graduated from different art schools. Under the direction of David Alvarez, composer, musical arranger and leader voice, their early forays onto Cuban traditional music became thier signature tone.

To achieve this, they supported their work on their director's compositions, orchestrations and arrangements who, when founding "Juego de Manos", had already studies on guitar, percussion and conduction. At 17 he was already part of the "Nueva Trova" movement and in 1989 he became a member of Pedro Luis Ferrer group where he remained during three years until he decided to manage the musical conduction of "Onondivepa" comedians group.

All such experience and the exceptional vocal qualities as "sonero" and "trovador" earns David Alvarez good reasons to create the project "David Alvarez y Juego de Manos" distinguishing themselves from the rest of the musical groups in the country.

Having a wide repertoire including Songs, Boleros, Guarachas, Sones, Rumbas and Guajiras and other genres of Cuban music, "David Alvarez y Juego de Manos" has shown their talent and has achieved success in Spain, Portugal, Guatemala and Venezuela. They recently shared the scenario with two remarkable figures of the Cuban music: Compay Segundo and Eliades Ochoa, this show took place at the Auditorium of Mexico on 2001, they definitely managed to fulfill the expectations of a demanding public, becoming a must for Salsa lovers…

It is worthy to mention presentations at theaters and prestigious nightclubs of the capital and recordings of three important disks, the first one done in 1995 with ART Color Label titled "Rimasones" and the second in 1999 with TUMY MUSIC Label under the title "Crazy World" and the third one recorded on 2003 via Tumi Music. In all these recordings "Juego de Manos" imprints musical quality and its own style. It should be pointed out that in their last record the famous musician Chucho Valdés participated as a guest.

Awarded on several occasions by the magazine Tropicana International, the program "Fama y Aplausos", "Saborit" and "Adolfo Guzmán" contests, this group of young talents has imposed their signature tone in Cuba and abroad.

On the 2005 summer they were witnesses of notable artistic and human events, among which we can highlight, the musical theme that marked the camoaing against AIDS.

Dedication, talent, professionalism and mainly unquestionable artistic outcomes place them at highlight positions at the Cuban popularity charts, managing to gain the public's attention in other latitudes due to their dedication, professionalism, wide scene domain and above all, unquestioned artistic outcomes allowing them to peak the highest positions among the best luminaries in Cuban contemporary music.
