| BIOGRAPHY
Endeavoring a musical career since 1997, EL CLAN emerges as a new musical
project in 2003. Their debut at Music House in Havana, July 11 gathered
remarkable critics from Cuban musical scope summing up specialists from
radio and television.
Its leader, Pedro Camacho, talented pianist and composer having as main
goal to approach Cuban popular music based on contemporary styles, is
making new arrangements to capture everyone's attention, mostly youngsters,
Camacho adds to his professional curriculum, his labor as musical producer
of various records from outstanding Cuban interpreters and the attendance,
as musician, to prestigious international and national events.
These musicians, having an average age of 25 and coming from different
art schools in Cuba, unveils an extraordinary vitality entwined with its
leader's charisma to make of every performance an unforgettable show.
These features are more to add to their huge international experience
originated from different European and American tours, which allow them,
in a way, to show an undoubted scene domain, seldom achieved in the early
times of a new project.
In this way and aimed at imposing their style within the Cuban musical
scope, EL CLAN, is undertaking this year a hard stage full of intense
and rigorous work. Performances at the most remarkable nightclubs and
theaters along the entire country are conforming, their priorities plus
some radio recordings, which will fulfill any expectation in the wide
spectrum of Cuban popular music.
2004 was simply an amazing year for El Clan, because they were awarded with the Revelation Artists Prize from Latin Radio in France. Certainly, Haila, Dayron and El Clan, who undertook the project produced by Musicalia Agency at the Eurodisney Festival, France made everybody dance in a memorable event fully accepted for about 15 persons, among them, a great latin community, enjoying once more, the wealth and quality of the Cuban music and musicians.
After this meeting in which Haila and Dayron joined their voices to El Clan, Europe kept the sonority of these talented musicians and the acknowledgement to their peerless labor, besides, this prize earned them a year of difussion in Radio Latina, France.
I is just in this same year when they recorded their opera prima Ese Soy Yo via Karl Yor at PM Records Studios. This CD had the excellent contribution of such luminaries as Leo Vera and Jorge Luis Rojas, "Rojitas". It is also aimed at showing the tasteful sonority adroit composing way and surprising arrangements of Pedro Camacho, its director. The CD is featuring ten tracks allowing the public to assess the authenticity of this young talent`s work along with his skilful musicians during more than a year ago, before the foundation of El Clan.
2005 renews El Clan and new talents came into this popular band, some other decide to do their own projects, this fact fueled Pedro Camacho to jumpstart new tunes, thanks to his permanent versatility and talent he always respond to the most demanding public.
After the changes, far from disappointment, Camacho was motivated and quickly featured a new repertoire, this time for new voices, keeping the signature tone created by him some years ago. He also prepared arrangements for his new CD which is at first featuring twelve tracks soaked by contemporary streams in many cases and passionate inflections in some others, penned all of these by Camacho himself.
If we had to qualify Pedro Camacho and El Clan in a single phrase, we would definitely be ''restless lovers of music''. Indeed, they don't stop making good music. People usually wonder about the source of such strong energy and live youth and the answer is not precisely related to how young they are, it talks about the passion they feel inside when working.
They usually stop to think about how to improve their work, that`s why they are conforming step by step a successful career full of emotions and talent, digging deep into the popular preference of young people.
Pedro Camacho and El Clan
are topping the first position among the major bands of the country, they created La peña del Clan, space in the National Theater`s Cafe Cantante aimed at promoting their art each Tuesday afternoon.
Great musicality, a dynamic scene domain and undoubted talented musicians
is all to add to the major features of EL CLAN. Their repertoire includes
themes from its leader's pen, assuming deferent Cuban and international
musical genres mixed enough to achieve their signature tone. Boleros,
rap, merengue, sones, guarachas ad ballads comes from high-quality musicians
in a very original way, to delight the most demanding public.
Versatility, rigor, cubanness are the major proposals in this beginning,
I would dare to predict them a definite-succesful career.
