BIOGRAPHY

Coming from a generation of new talents, passionate about Cuban music, David Blanco is currently, one of the most admirable composers and singers of Cuban musical scene.

Born on February 10, 1980, in Havana, he started to feel interested about music at very early ages, that's why, his family fueled him to enter ''Alejandro García Caturla'' School to remain there around three years entirely devoted to violin until he discovered another possibilities in the trumpet, achieving his master degree as instrumentalist and professor of this instrument, on 1998, being only 18 years old and he soon started to work in the prestigious conservatoire ''Amadeo Roldán''.

Along his scholar stages, he was member of Symphonic Orchestra for Children due to his excellent technical qualities, entering afterwards the Symphonic Orchestra for youngsters and at the age of 14, he made his first piano concert at the Napoleonic Museum.

Just in the middle of his adolescence, he was part of numerous bands approaching rock and jazz, it is just in this stage when he became interested about new sonorities and the Cuban music roots.

Being 17 years old, he joined the cultural project from the popular troubadour Gerardo Alfonso as pianist and keyboardist, plus various performances as guest musician in recordings of young rock groups.

On 1999, he decided to join Moncada Group as leading vocalist, pianist, trumpeter and arranger, it is precisely in this group where he had the chance of performing at scenes from Mexico, Canada, Chile, Venezuela and Guatemala, just to mention a few.

Parallel to his labor in Moncada, he made his bow at production and arrangements of other projects, in this stage, he composed themes for TV novels, winning also the Second Prize as composer at OTI 1999.

After all these experiences and a hard work which allowed him to mature professionally speaking, he founded in 2001, his group, aimed at winning a priviledge place within the the Cuban musical stage, assuming in this way the challenge of mixing rap, ballad and song with a typically-Cuban rhythmic base.

In this way, he started another branch of his professional career, performing at famous nightclubs and theaters, capturing critic and public's attention and gaining everyone's appraisal.

It is precisely in 2000, when he recorded under Artex's Bis Music label, his first CD ''Tengo Para dar'' and from that moment on, he reinforced his growing popularity,
placing various cuts in the topper positions of the popularity charts in the national radio and television. One of his highlights in 2003 was the video clip promoting his ''Mueve la Pachanga'' which scored among the five most popular video clips of the year.

''Tengo para dar'' made its bow within the international market when signing with the Spanish Latin Soul label, grossing considerable sales in Spain and other European countries. David Blanco jumpstarted a trek around various Spanish cities under both labels associated to him. This tour was favorable accepted by the critic, Mueve la Pachanga, Habanero Soy and of course, Tengo para dar, were the most acclaimed hits at scenes in Madrid, Murcia, Sevilla and Castillón. He also aired at notable radio and TV programs.
David and his Group promoted in each concert cuts from his latest CD and he definitely stayed forever in the Spaniards` heart, who were astonished by his incredible sonority, adroit fusion and deep sense of Cubaness present in his music.

On 2004, David recorded his second CD El despechao, holding deeply the already gained popularity in the Cuban audience, the CD was unveiled on 2005, bringing to light also the video Una y otra vez, which was in this case the second cut to be presented. The well-packed video, having a huge acceptance was produced by Nilka Yero and Juan Manuel Oliva. The art direction was in charge of David himself and the edition was made by Alfredo Ureta.

Also in this year he made performances in Pinar del Río together with his group evincing once more the great popularity achieved in this western province. The fully-attended concerts were a complete success.

Returning from Pinar del Río, David received the great news that his El despechao was also in the market and the video Una y otra vez was one of the most acclaimed ones at the TV program Lucas. This fact, he stated, fueled me to better each day, with greater professional rigor.

David Blanco also contributed to the Cuban Campaig to Prevent AIDS in 2005 with a song by him. When the National Center of Sexual Education request him the musical piece, according to journalist Mario Vizcaíno, David Blanco appreciated very much the fact of being selected for such noble duty, becuase, he always thought it was the chance he had to warn teenagers and youngsters about the mortal risk of such painful illness.

Besides singing in each presentation the tune Miénteme, which focuses on the fact that the real success is not to quick to love or pleasure, but in being careful, David secured his top popular seat in our country with diverse tunes by his inspiration present in El Despechao, nominee and awarded CD at the Cubadisco 2005 International Contest in the category of Pop Fusion.

On the early June, he toured to Spain to play dates at notable TV and radio programs under the same promotional camaping he jumpstarted in that country with motive of the releasing of his second recording production, later on, his group came along with him around the entire country, going far beyond his wildest expectations.

David stick outs also due to his scene domain and strength entwined with the high quality of his art-shools-graduated musicians, showing, once again, they are conforming
a new generation of talents soaked by professionalism.

A wide repertoire featuring not only its genre diversity, but also a new creation way, in which themes from a contemporary urban music fusioning foreign rhythms with the most original styles born in Cuba, manage to achieve a signature tone in each performance and allow David Blanco to gain undoubted success in his artistic career full of authenticity and cubaness.
