Heritors and followers of Eduardo Saborit, one of the most important
Cuban musicians and composers, Clave Azul Group is the outcome of his
two grandsons` hugest wish to continue his work and keep on enhacing the
popular Cuban music.
Halio Eduardo Avila, pianist and arranger and his brother Abel Avila
Bello, percussionist, decided to start a musical project named "Clave
Azul" precisely due to the fact that in the second half of the previous
century, their grandfather founded in Camaguey -one of the Cuban central
provinces- a trio named "La Clave Azul" (The Blue Clef), integrated
by Teodoro Benemelis and Luis Raga.
Along ten years "La Clave Azul" Trio was a complete success,
delighting an expert audience on real talents and gaining admiration,
prestige and popularity in Cuba and some other latitudes.
Later on, Eduardo Saborit became a symbol of country music, placing important
landmarks to our musical history and his family. For this reason, "Clave
Azul" is founded as a Cuban musical group in 1998, directed by Helio
Eduardo Avila and honoring Saborit as the author of the famous song "Cuba
que linda es Cuba", approaching the Cuban traditional music and most
of this prestigious author`s compositions.
"Clave Azul"`s team is conformed by young musicians from the
National School of Art, and since their first presentations, they have

selected repertory, where we can find boleros, songs, guarachas, sones,
guajiras, cha cha chas, and some other genres, showing the versatility
of these musicians. Their performances have been always appreciated by
the auditory, exactly because they know very well how to combine the talent
they have with the passion they show at every performance reaching a great
scene domain.

exclusive artists for two years and where they are always welcomed for
tourists from different parts of the world, have been conforming this
group's profile, adding the international tour they did for more than
six months, they visited important cities in The Popular Republic of China
and were acclaimed for thousands and thousands of people during their
performances.
Nowadays, Clave Azul is part of Musicalia, ARTex' Artistic Representative
